Holden's Mission

Holden provides a tailored education for students struggling with learning, mental health, and executive functioning challenges. Students who have experienced previous academic failure, school refusal, and bullying reignite their love for learning at Holden High.

LGBTQ+ and neurodiverse students of all identities feel respected and supported in our community.

Our campus  is BART walkable, allowing for students to commute from all over the Bay Area. Most of our students live in Contra Costa and Alameda County.

Holden High School’s Mission is to provide a safe, supportive, and effective learning community for a broad spectrum of adolescents who thrive in a less traditional and more empowering educational environment.  We help our students develop self-confidence, communication skills, a strong sense of community, and a lifelong love of learning.

Since 1969, we have been committed to a student-centered approach that honors who students are and focuses on their academic, social, emotional, and creative needs. Our teaching and counseling staff work collaboratively with each family to foster the learning and growth that support students’ individual academic and personal goals.
